EarnOn Host Standards
Last updated: 01 August 2026
These Host Standards are part of the EarnOn Terms of Service and set out what's expected of you as a host on EarnOn Events. They work alongside our Community Guidelines and Payment & Refund Policy — where those documents cover conduct and refund mechanics generally, this document covers the specific obligations that come with hosting.
1. Before You List an Event
1.1 Accurate Listings. Your event listing — title, description, venue address, coordinates, photos, ticket tiers, and pricing — must accurately reflect what guests will actually experience. Once tickets have sold, changing material details (venue, date, what's included) without following the reschedule or cancellation process in Section 4 may trigger buyer refund rights under our Payment & Refund Policy.
1.2 Set Your Cancellation Policy. You choose a cancellation tier — 24-hour, 48-hour, or 72-hour full refund window — at listing creation. This is shown to guests before checkout. You cannot change your cancellation tier after tickets have sold for that listing.
1.3 Listing Fee. Publishing an event requires a one-time listing fee, calculated from your event's maximum possible revenue (or a flat fee for free events). This fee is separate from and paid before any ticket revenue reaches you, and is non-refundable once your event is published, except where EarnOn removes the listing through no fault of yours.
1.4 Capacity and Ticket Tiers. Set ticket quantities honestly, based on actual venue capacity. Don't oversell a tier beyond what you can genuinely accommodate.
2. Host Verification Tiers
EarnOn uses a tiered verification system to build trust between hosts and guests:
|
Tier |
Requirements |
What it unlocks |
|
New host |
Email + phone verified |
Can publish public and private events |
|
Verified |
Government ID verified, first event completed successfully |
Trust badge shown on listings, eligible for invite-only and higher-capacity events |
|
Elite |
100+ completed events, 4.0+ average rating |
Trust badge, instant payout eligibility, priority support |
Your tier is shown to guests on your event listings. Falsifying information to advance your tier, or reselling access to a tier you've earned, is a violation of these Standards.
3. Running Your Event
3.1 Check-In Window. Your event's check-in window — including the rotating door code and self check-in system — opens automatically 1 hour before your listed start time. You cannot generate a check-in code before this window opens.
3.2 Manual Override — Use Sparingly. Manual check-in override bypasses the geofence and presence-token verification entirely. It exists for genuine edge cases — a guest's dead phone, no signal, or lost device — not as a faster alternative to normal check-in. Every manual override is logged and flagged for review. A pattern of frequent overrides may trigger a Trust & Safety review of your account.
3.3 Post-Event Proof. After your event ends, you may be asked to upload post-event proof media (photos or videos demonstrating the event took place as listed). This is used to support smooth escrow release and, where a dispute is raised, as evidence in that review.
4. Rescheduling and Cancelling
4.1 Rescheduling. You may reschedule an event once, provided it's done before your check-in window opens. When you reschedule:
- All ticket holders are notified immediately
- Each guest can keep their ticket for the new date or request a full refund, bypassing your normal cancellation policy tier, since the reschedule is your decision, not theirs
- A second reschedule of the same listing is not permitted — cancel and create a new listing instead
4.2 Cancelling. If you cancel an event outright, all ticket holders are entitled to a full refund regardless of your cancellation policy tier or how close to the event date you cancel.
4.3 Sponsorship Program Events. If your event has a confirmed Sponsor through our Sponsorship Program, rescheduling requires EarnOn's prior written consent — see the Sponsorship Program Host Terms for details, which are stricter than the general reschedule allowance in this section.
5. Payouts and Escrow
5.1 How You Get Paid. Ticket payments are held in escrow, not paid to you at the time of sale. Escrow releases automatically 48 hours after your event's scheduled end time, minus EarnOn's platform fee, provided no dispute is open on any ticket for that event.
5.2 No-Show Handling. If 50% or more of your event's tickets check in, no-show tickets are treated as attended for payout purposes and release along with the rest. If fewer than 50% check in, no-show ticket funds are automatically refunded to those buyers instead of releasing to you — this threshold exists to protect buyers in cases where an event may not have proceeded as listed.
5.3 Disputes Freeze Payout. If a guest raises an issue on any ticket for your event, escrow for that event is frozen until the dispute resolves — even if the standard 48-hour window has already passed.
6. What Happens If You Don't Meet These Standards
Depending on severity, we may:
- Remove or unpublish your event listing
- Require you to correct a listing before it can go live again
- Freeze a pending payout pending review
- Downgrade or suspend your host verification tier
- Suspend or terminate your account
Repeated or serious violations — including fraudulent listings, manipulated check-ins, or attempts to circumvent the resale price cap on ticket transfers — may result in permanent removal from EarnOn Events.
7. Changes to These Standards
We may update these Host Standards from time to time. Material changes will be communicated the same way as changes to our Terms of Service.
